Small teams with one helpful bot
A shop like Maya's, running a support or sales assistant. A hard monthly limit, an alert when something's off, and no key to steal.
Leash gives every AI agent a signed pass with a hard money limit, keeps your API key encrypted where the agent can't reach it, and seals every call into a record nobody can quietly rewrite.
The demo uses a real AI and real money, in fractions of a cent, paid by us. No sign-up needed.

Why we built Leash
A developer left an AI agent to finish a task with a $100 budget. When he came back, it had spent about $5,000, doing far more than he asked. When he checked its logs, they said nothing had gone wrong.
The agent gets a pass signed with HMAC-SHA256 that carries its budget. Before each call, Leash works out the most that call could cost and refuses it if it could go over. The agent can't spend past its limit, and it can't edit the pass to raise it.
Your key is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and only unlocked inside Leash for the moment of each approved call. The agent only ever sees its pass.
Every call is recorded by Leash, not the agent, and each entry is sealed to the one before it with HMAC-SHA256. Change one entry and Leash points to exactly which one.
You wouldn't hand a new hire the company credit card with no limit. You'd give them a prepaid card: a set amount, an end date, and you can cancel it in a second.
Today's AI agents get the equivalent of the company card: a raw API key that never expires, has no budget and can be stolen. Leash gives them the prepaid card instead.
Paste the key from OpenAI or any compatible provider. Leash encrypts it before saving. Your agents never see it.
Name the agent, set a money limit, a call limit and when it ends. Stop it any time, from any device.
Run the built-in test agent to watch your limit hold. Then point your own agent at Leash with two lines of code. Add Slack or Discord to hear about trouble.
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
base_url="https://your-leash/v1", # 1. send calls through Leash
api_key="lsh_…", # 2. the agent's pass, not your key
)
Before your real key is used, each request goes through these checks. The first one that fails stops the call and goes on the record.
Each key is locked with its own random key. That key is locked again with two things together: a key made from your team's password, which Leash never stores, and a master key that's kept outside the database.
Each agent pass carries its own unlock code, and Leash never keeps the pass. So a stolen copy of the database can't open your key or make a single call, even with the master key.
If anyone changes a stored key, even by one character, Leash refuses to use it and tells you. Remove a key and it's erased for good.
One honest limit: someone who took over the running server could see a key while it's in use. So make a key just for Leash and give it a spending limit at your provider.
sk-…3456q3VzZXItZW5jcnlwdGVkLWJsb2I…Scrambled text that nothing in it can openEvery entry is linked to the one before it. Change or delete any entry and Leash points to exactly where, even if the person editing it has full access to the database.
The agent never writes to it. In the demo, press Try to fake the record after a run: one step's cost is changed to $0.00 in the database, and Leash catches it.
Maya runs a small online shop that sells handmade ceramics. On Friday she lets an AI assistant answer customer emails while she's away. Here is the same weekend twice.
The assistant holds Maya's real API key.
The assistant holds a pass: $5, 500 calls, ends Monday 9am.

A shop like Maya's, running a support or sales assistant. A hard monthly limit, an alert when something's off, and no key to steal.
One pass per client and per agent, each with its own budget. See exactly what each one spent, and stop any of them without touching the others.
Give 200 people AI access without handing out your key. Each pass gets a few dollars and ends with the event. Leaked passes are worth almost nothing.
Watch a real agent hit its limit and try to fake the record in the live demo, then run Leash for your own agents from the source code.
